Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Insurance and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 8.94% or 52.00 points to trade at 634.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 8.29% or 27.30 points to end at 356.80 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) was up 6.16% or 2.67 points to 45.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which lost 6.38% or 49.80 points to trade at 730.60 in late trade. Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV) declined 4.73% or 62.00 points to end at 1,250.00 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) shed 3.05% or 8.70 points to 276.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1063 to 697 and 700 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 3.10 to $2,031.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.17% or 0.91 to hit $78.82 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.77 to trade at $83.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.99.
