Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.05% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 3.76% or 27.60 points to trade at 762.40 at the close. Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) added 3.64% or 23.50 points to end at 669.50 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) was up 3.24% or 3.70 points to 117.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which lost 3.67% or 50.50 points to trade at 1,324.00 in late trade. Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) declined 2.30% or 60.00 points to end at 2,551.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) shed 1.92% or 31.00 points to 1,582.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1024 to 745 and 677 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.93% or 20.30 to $2,168.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.27% or 0.21 to hit $78.14 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $82.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 102.64.
