Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, General Industrial and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 4.50% or 95.00 points to trade at 2204.00 at the close. NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) added 4.09% or 76.00 points to end at 1936.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 3.89% or 250.00 points to 6684.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which lost 2.28% or 15.20 points to trade at 652.31 in late trade. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 1.41% or 2.60 points to end at 181.90 and Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) shed 1.29% or 2.90 points to 221.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1467 to 661 and 179 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1515.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $56.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.58 to trade at $60.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.20% to 1.2144, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.9141.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 98.053.
