Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 5.43% or 314.0 points to trade at 6100.0 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 4.54% or 6.06 points to end at 139.58 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was up 4.12% or 65.00 points to 1643.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 4.47% or 28.40 points to trade at 607.40 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 4.30% or 26.20 points to end at 582.60 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) shed 3.93% or 148.0 points to 3620.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1176 to 973 and 157 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.03% or 0.55 to $1643.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.51% or 0.24 to hit $47.42 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.09 to trade at $51.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.32% to 1.2852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.8657.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 97.405.
