Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Industrial Metals & Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.48% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which rose 7.09% or 15.20 points to trade at 229.50 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 5.65% or 95.50 points to end at 1,785.00 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) was up 3.90% or 1.62 points to 43.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which lost 3.22% or 3.20 points to trade at 96.30 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 1.41% or 0.94 points to end at 65.63 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 0.56% or 3.00 points to 536.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1099 to 636 and 721 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.32% or 6.35 to $2,021.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.88% or 0.69 to hit $78.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.54% or 0.45 to trade at $83.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 104.27.
