Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Chemicals and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.45% or 40.40 points to trade at 782.20 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 5.27% or 52.00 points to end at 1,039.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 5.12% or 15.00 points to 308.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 0.32% or 1.80 points to trade at 565.40 in late trade. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) declined 0.10% or 2.00 points to end at 2,017.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) gained 0.22% or 18.00 points to 8,200.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1241 to 416 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.95% or 18.55 to $1,965.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.91% or 0.73 to hit $80.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.65 to trade at $84.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 103.49.
