Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 5.06% or 6.45 points to trade at 133.95 at the close. St. James's Place PLC (LON:SJP) added 4.68% or 23.40 points to end at 523.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 4.47% or 30.20 points to 705.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GSK plc (LON:GSK), which lost 9.54% or 168.50 points to trade at 1,598.00 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 2.88% or 164.00 points to end at 5,524.00 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) shed 1.67% or 15.80 points to 932.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1199 to 621 and 689 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.76% or 17.90 to $2,363.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.42% or 2.63 to hit $74.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.24% or 2.63 to trade at $78.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 104.11.
