Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 2.98% or 19.50 points to trade at 673.50 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 2.02% or 7.20 points to end at 363.90 and IMI PLC (LON:IMI) was up 1.98% or 35.00 points to 1,800.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV), which lost 7.11% or 131.00 points to trade at 1,712.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.94% or 24.50 points to end at 598.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 2.19% or 11.80 points to 527.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1031 to 757 and 655 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.26% or 6.10 to $2,368.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.39% or 1.19 to hit $84.47 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 1.21 to trade at $89.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 105.83.
