Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Services, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.04%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 5.26% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.20 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 1.59% or 0.010 points to end at 0.640 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was up 0.75% or 0.010 points to 1.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 5.76% or 0.052 points to trade at 0.850 in late trade. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 2.53% or 0.040 points to end at 1.540 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) shed 0.95% or 0.010 points to 1.040.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which rose 1.75% to 0.580, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 1.30% to settle at 0.780 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which gained 0.76% to close at 9.27.
The worst performers were Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 3.77% to 7.41 in late trade, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which lost 1.84% to settle at 1.60 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 1.82% to 0.540 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 13 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 8 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.11% or 0.53 to $48.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.10% or 0.54 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.28% or 3.65 to trade at $1321.55 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.17% to 4.0728.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 95.97.
