United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.01%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Sunday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.01%, while the ADX General index declined 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which rose 14.83% or 0.430 points to trade at 3.330 at the close. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) added 2.36% or 0.03 points to end at 1.30 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 2.21% or 0.012 points to 0.556 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 2.63% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.850 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 1.98% or 0.013 points to end at 0.643 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) shed 1.29% or 0.020 points to 1.530.

The top performers on the ADX General were Finance House (AD:FH) which rose 14.63% to 2.35, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 13.89% to settle at 0.410 and Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which gained 7.69% to close at 0.840.

The worst performers were Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was down 3.85% to 0.500 in late trade, Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which lost 2.22% to settle at 2.20 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 1.72% to 0.570 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 12 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 15 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.27% or 0.55 to $43.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.35% or 0.60 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.22% or 15.20 to trade at $1235.10 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.59% to 4.1243.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.11.
