United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.24%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms and Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.24% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index lost 1.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which rose 2.82% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.460 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 2.800 and National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 3.600 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC), which fell 6.28% or 0.058 points to trade at 0.865 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 6.18% or 0.110 points to end at 1.780 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was down 3.72% or 0.028 points to 0.724.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 14.85% to 3.48, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was up 7.94% to settle at 6.80 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 6.82% to close at 0.940.

The worst performers were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 9.09% to 5.00 in late trade, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which lost 3.40% to settle at 2.56 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 2.68% to 1.090 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 25 to 1 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 8 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.

Shares in National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 to 3.600. Shares in Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) rose to 52-week highs; up 14.85% or 0.45 to 3.48.

Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.32% or 0.14 to $43.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.37% or 0.18 to hit $49.90 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.44% or 15.90 to trade at $1123.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 1.41% to 4.1131.

The US Dollar Index was down 1.17% at 96.09.
