Proactive Investors - Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) said it is aware that WhatsApp, its widely-used messaging platform, is currently facing disruptions globally, leaving users unable to send or receive messages.
The issue is affecting several Meta-owned platforms including Instagram and Facebook (NASDAQ:META).
Meta's services status page confirmed the issues, labeling them as "Major Disruptions." The company stated that the problem started at 11:10 AM PST and assured users that engineering teams are investigating.
Meanwhile, the official WhatsApp account on Twitter acknowledged the ongoing issues and assured users they are working on resolving them swiftly.

This outage comes as WhatsApp, acquired by Meta in 2014 for $19.3 billion, remains one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, with over 2 billion users.
Shares of Meta were up around 1.8% on Wednesday afternoon.
