AFGRI Limited offers a range of products and services to farmers, producers, and users of agricultural products in South Africa. It operates through three segments: AFGRI Agri Services, AFGRI Financial Services, and AFGRI Foods. It supplies a range of mechanized equipment tailored to the needs of commercial farmers; and provides a range of farming inputs, agricultural, home and garden, outdoor, and DIY products, including selected building materials and services to farmers, week-end farmers, small-holding owners, and the general public through retail outlets. It is also involved in handling and storage of grain in South Africa and Zambia; procurement and sale of agricultural commodities; and the provision of collateral management, stock monitoring, storage, and inspections services to financial institutions, insurers, commodity traders, and farmers. It offers various financial solutions, such as foreign exchange, trade finance, currency and interest rate hedging, price risk management, specialized/corporate finance, and debt origination and restructuring services; provides broking services; and supplies thermal coal. It also provides farmer lending products and insurance brokerage services. Additionally, it manufactures and sells animal feeds primarily for the poultry, dairy, beef, sheep, and pet food markets; produces grits for the snack industry; and supplies poultry meat products. It also crushes, extracts, refines, and processes soya beans, cotton seeds, and sunflower seeds into various edible oils and fats; soya, sunflower, cotton oil cakes for animal feed; high protein defatted soya flour; and texturised soya protein for human consumption. It operates approximately 65 retail stores. It was formerly known as Oos-Transvaalse Landboukoöperasie and changed its name to AFGRI Limited in 2003. It was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Centurion, South Africa. As of March 31, 2014, AFGRI Limited operates as a subsidiary of AgriGroupe Holdings Proprietary Limited.
