Marret Multi Strategy Income Fund (MMF_u)

Marret Multi-Strategy Income Fund is a closed-ended balanced mutual fund of funds launched and managed by Marret Asset Management, Inc. It invests in funds which invest in the public equity and fixed income markets of Canada and the United States. The fund seeks to invest in securities of companies operating across diversified sectors. It primarily invests in five separate, actively managed, underlying portfolios on an approximately equal weighted basis, which in turn invest in investment and non-investment grade corporate debt, bonds, preferred shares, common equities, and other income producing securities. The fund employs hedging strategies, including shorting securities and holding cash to create its portfolio. It also employs fundamental analysis with both top-down and bottom-up security selection approaches, focusing on such factors as financial statement analysis, management interviews, asset tours, competitor and industry analysis, operating leverage, management strength, conservatism, experience, historical earnings and future projections, liquidity profile, and accounting ratios and practices to make its investments. The fund benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the S&P/TSX Composite Total Return Index, S&P 500 Total Return Index, BofA Merrill Lynch U.S. High Yield Master II Index, DEX Mid-Term Corporate Bond Index, BofA Merrill Lynch Canadian Corporate Index, S&P/TSX Composite Energy Total Return Index, and S&P/TSX Materials Total Return Index.
