OTTAWA, April 21 (Reuters) - Canadian Senator Mike Duffy was
cleared of bribery and fraud charges on Thursday, the Canadian
Broadcasting Corp reported, marking the end of a high-profile
trial that helped ensure the defeat of the ruling Conservatives
last year.
Duffy faced 31 criminal charges related to his activities
after former Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed him to the
Senate, the upper chamber of Parliament, in late 2008. Judge
Charles Vaillancourt ruled none of the charges could be
substantiated, CBC said.
