Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.99% or 2.790 points to trade at 72.790 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 2.44% or 3.05 points to end at 127.85 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.47% or 0.92 points to 63.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 1.49% or 0.545 points to trade at 35.980 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 0.61% or 0.35 points to end at 56.88 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.17% or 0.08 points to 47.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 41 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.56% or 7.03 to $1249.47 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.42% or 0.19 to hit $44.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.17 to trade at $47.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1160, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8761.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 97.13.
