Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.89% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 2.02% or 0.62 points to trade at 31.25 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.84% or 1.220 points to end at 67.500 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.84% or 1.32 points to 72.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which added 0.04% or 0.02 points to trade at 46.24 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.11% or 0.15 points to end at 131.90 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) gained 0.20% or 0.11 points to 53.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 34 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.11% or 1.35 to $1256.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.92% or 0.45 to hit $48.39 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.39 to trade at $51.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.0913, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8448.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 98.94.
