Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 1.23% or 0.59 points to trade at 49.16 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 0.65% or 0.18 points to end at 28.02 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.50% or 0.340 points to 68.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 1.17% or 0.54 points to trade at 45.73 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.15% or 0.34 points to end at 29.18 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 1.09% or 0.25 points to 22.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.50% or 6.15 to $1219.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $53.32 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.0589, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8671.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 101.65.
