Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.31% or 0.31 points to trade at 13.73 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.44% or 1.150 points to end at 81.240 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.13% or 0.87 points to 77.98 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.93% or 1.310 points to trade at 66.500 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 1.30% or 1.75 points to end at 132.55 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.74% or 0.35 points to 46.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 52 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.56% or 6.84 to $1236.84 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.85 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $51.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.89% to 1.1073, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 98.15.
