Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 0.44% or 0.290 points to trade at 66.790 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 13.29 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 108.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 2.73% or 1.29 points to trade at 46.15 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.93% or 1.310 points to end at 66.630 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.75% or 2.20 points to 123.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 45 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.73% or 9.02 to $1242.72 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.67% or 0.31 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.37 to trade at $48.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.85% to 1.1576, while EUR/GBP rose 0.85% to 0.8866.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 94.32.
