Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumption, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4), which rose 9.46% or 6.20 points to trade at 71.75 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) added 5.24% or 0.90 points to end at 18.06 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 4.94% or 0.34 points to 7.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 1.91% or 0.20 points to trade at 10.27 in late trade. Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) declined 0.99% or 0.34 points to end at 34.00 and Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) shed 0.87% or 0.09 points to 10.26.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 260 to 93 and 24 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.19% to 29.91.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.90 to $1269.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.43% or 0.21 to hit $49.18 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.86% or 3.70 to trade at $133.27 .
USD/BRL was down 0.13% to 3.1790, while EUR/BRL rose 0.08% to 3.4636.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 98.88.
