Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which rose 3.64% or 0.68 points to trade at 19.35 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 3.63% or 1.20 points to end at 34.30 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 3.58% or 0.50 points to 14.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 2.42% or 0.31 points to trade at 12.48 in late trade. Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) declined 2.36% or 0.67 points to end at 27.68 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 1.52% or 0.42 points to 27.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 190 to 167 and 22 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.93% to 32.02.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.24% or 3.05 to $1252.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.34% or 1.13 to hit $49.50 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.10% or 0.14 to trade at $139.07 .
USD/BRL was down 0.65% to 3.1210, while EUR/BRL fell 1.08% to 3.3602.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 99.78.
