Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.48% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which rose 4.13% or 1.27 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) added 4.02% or 2.49 points to end at 64.49 and Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) was up 3.64% or 1.21 points to 34.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 3.55% or 0.23 points to trade at 6.24 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) declined 2.69% or 0.34 points to end at 12.28 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) shed 2.59% or 0.37 points to 13.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 184 to 164 and 37 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.43% to 30.25 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1256.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.61% or 0.27 to hit $44.73 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.49% or 1.88 to trade at $123.90 .
USD/BRL was up 0.51% to 3.2919, while EUR/BRL rose 1.00% to 3.6867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 97.12.
