Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which rose 3.24% or 0.45 points to trade at 14.34 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 3.12% or 0.19 points to end at 6.28 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 2.11% or 0.81 points to 39.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 4.72% or 0.62 points to trade at 12.51 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.34% or 0.52 points to end at 11.46 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) shed 3.11% or 0.36 points to 11.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 191 to 186 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.63% to 32.67.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1226.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $53.23 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.22% or 1.75 to trade at $141.48 .
USD/BRL was up 0.57% to 3.1339, while EUR/BRL rose 0.22% to 3.3176.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.66.
