Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED), which rose 25.71% or 0.81 points to trade at 3.96 at the close. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) added 15.98% or 2.08 points to end at 15.10 and Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) was up 11.47% or 0.50 points to 4.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NFI Group Inc (TSX:NFI), which lost 3.28% or 0.31 points to trade at 9.14 in late trade. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:NG) declined 2.88% or 0.19 points to end at 6.40 and Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX:TRQ) shed 2.62% or 1.00 points to 37.17.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 621 to 384 and 97 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.00% to 22.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.45 to $1,657.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.40% or 0.34 to hit $84.92 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $91.19 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.74% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.17% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.03% at 110.75.
