KRYNICA-ZDROJ, Poland, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The chief
executive of Poland's KGHM KGH.WA , Europe's No.2 copper
producer, said on Tuesday he expected copper prices CMCU3 to
stabilise at $5,000 dollars per tonne.
"I think that the price could stabilise at $5,000 dollars
per tonne," Herbert Wirth told reporters.
In July, Wirth said that this was the "pain level" for
KGHM.
Last week, Wirth said that KGHM was considering temporarily
cutting production at one of its U.S. mines until copper prices
rebound above $6,000 a tonne.
Copper surged to a four-week high on Tuesday, boosted by
data showing healthy Chinese imports and a bounce in hard-hit
equity markets in the world's top metals
consumer.
