Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.12% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 4.19% or 0.290 points to trade at 7.205 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 3.01% or 0.57 points to end at 19.48 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 2.74% or 0.40 points to 15.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 0.22% or 0.03 points to trade at 13.83 in late trade. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) added 0.10% or 0.04 points to end at 42.04 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) gained 0.11% or 0.07 points to 65.29.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 5.01% to 5.993, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.36% to settle at 8.380 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which gained 4.19% to close at 7.205.
The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 4.14% to 30.77 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which lost 3.01% to settle at 22.04 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) which was down 1.03% to 448.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 447 to 190 and 80 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.07% to 18.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1229.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.16% or 0.53 to hit $46.05 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.50 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8486.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 98.53.
