Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.16%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which rose 3.59% or 1.05 points to trade at 30.32 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 3.36% or 1.40 points to end at 42.90 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 2.76% or 1.35 points to 50.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which lost 0.69% or 0.27 points to trade at 38.60 in late trade. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) declined 0.52% or 0.33 points to end at 63.02 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) shed 0.40% or 0.30 points to 75.63.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Natixis (PA:CNAT) which rose 4.95% to 3.475, Euronext (PA:ENX) which was up 4.63% to settle at 34.22 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which gained 3.59% to close at 30.32.
The worst performers were Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which was down 1.57% to 334.65 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 1.07% to settle at 33.635 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 0.99% to 25.055 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 416 to 215 and 113 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.79% to 20.27 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.05% or 14.10 to $1329.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.70% or 0.76 to hit $45.51 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 0.86 to trade at $47.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1120, while EUR/GBP fell 1.27% to 0.8337.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 96.08.
