Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.24%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.13% or 1.44 points to trade at 68.94 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 1.39% or 0.68 points to end at 49.39 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) was up 1.00% or 0.54 points to 54.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which lost 1.95% or 0.64 points to trade at 32.16 in late trade. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 1.68% or 0.146 points to end at 8.537 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) shed 1.39% or 0.66 points to 46.72.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 5.09% to 8.16, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was up 3.18% to settle at 11.040 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which gained 2.13% to close at 68.94.
The worst performers were Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was down 13.61% to 79.38 in late trade, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which lost 3.52% to settle at 22.50 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 2.66% to 14.46 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 358 to 316 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.62% to 18.12.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.58% or 20.95 to $1347.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $44.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.57% or 0.75 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8368.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.87% at 94.91.
