Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Chemicals and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.83%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.94%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 2.23% or 0.490 points to trade at 22.510 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.52% or 0.200 points to end at 13.394 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 1.43% or 1.230 points to 87.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 0.61% or 0.650 points to trade at 105.150 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 0.60% or 1.00 points to end at 164.86 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 0.55% or 0.480 points to 86.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which rose 3.33% to 93.000, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 2.89% to settle at 65.950 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 2.46% to close at 137.70.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.47% to 0.36 in late trade, Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which lost 2.14% to settle at 10.950 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 1.74% to 39.050 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 4.75% to 9.882, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was up 3.47% to settle at 11.640 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which gained 2.66% to close at 21.580.
The worst performers were Software AG (DE:SOWG) which was down 1.29% to 42.240 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 0.95% to settle at 262.00 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 0.85% to 151.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 473 to 255 and 81 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.98% to 19.25.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.56% or 21.10 to $1335.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.22% or 0.75 to hit $62.30 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $65.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.2351, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 89.51.
