Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 12.37% or 0.0046 points to trade at 0.0418 at the close. Intralot (AT:INLr) added 5.26% or 0.025 points to end at 0.500 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 5.07% or 0.037 points to 0.777 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which lost 1.60% or 0.003 points to trade at 0.159 in late trade. Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT:OLTr) declined 1.59% or 0.40 points to end at 24.80 and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) shed 1.50% or 0.32 points to 20.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 24 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 4.40 to $1285.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.55% or 0.75 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.72 to trade at $58.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1444, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8991.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.477.
