Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 2.55% or 29.10 points to trade at 1,168.10 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 1.35% or 91.15 points to end at 6,846.00 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 1.13% or 36.95 points to 3,302.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 1.26% or 3.90 points to trade at 306.40 in late trade. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 0.76% or 150.85 points to end at 19,610.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 0.73% or 1.60 points to 217.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.19% to 1,164.45, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 1.47% to settle at 6,850.20 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 0.90% to close at 2,596.70.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.79% to 19,600.80 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 0.71% to settle at 217.40 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.21% to 849.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 963 to 886 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1691 fell and 1532 advanced, while 169 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.61% to 14.11 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 5.75 to $1,745.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.46 to hit $80.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.65 to trade at $88.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 81.73, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 83.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 107.46.
