Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.70% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 7.66% or 30.65 points to trade at 430.90 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 4.17% or 18.00 points to end at 449.95 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 2.78% or 19.25 points to 710.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which lost 1.89% or 8.45 points to trade at 437.50 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 1.45% or 7.50 points to end at 510.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 1.07% or 25.35 points to 2354.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 7.89% to 431.60, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.86% to settle at 710.60 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 2.00% to close at 288.05.
The worst performers were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 2.07% to 436.75 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 1.09% to settle at 2354.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 0.95% to 1326.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 854 to 705 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1392 fell and 1240 advanced, while 109 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.99% to 11.2625.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 0.98 to $1295.52 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.82% or 0.92 to hit $51.52 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.18 to trade at $57.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 64.906, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 76.7476.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.94.
