Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Metals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.75%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 5.95% or 63.30 points to trade at 1,126.55 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 5.03% or 38.90 points to end at 812.00 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 5.03% or 299.20 points to 6,250.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which lost 10.73% or 197.80 points to trade at 1,645.00 in late trade. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) declined 1.90% or 89.80 points to end at 4,637.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) shed 1.13% or 25.65 points to 2,234.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 6.00% to 1,127.50, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 5.17% to settle at 6,259.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 4.97% to close at 811.65.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 10.71% to 1,645.65 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which lost 1.92% to settle at 4,641.85 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.05% to 3,569.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1184 to 1003 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1960 rose and 1691 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.43% to 10.73.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $2,338.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $82.84 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $88.07 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.32, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 89.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 105.44.
