Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Real Estate and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.48%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 2.05% or 50.55 points to trade at 2,519.05 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) added 1.82% or 39.45 points to end at 2,203.30 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.67% or 2.75 points to 167.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which lost 7.00% or 129.30 points to trade at 1,717.65 in late trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 5.18% or 30.25 points to end at 553.70 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 2.81% or 15.55 points to 537.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 2.07% to 2,519.45, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 1.88% to settle at 2,203.70 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.70% to close at 167.85.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.83% to 537.30 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.52% to settle at 1,567.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.49% to 3,482.75 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1393 to 544 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2250 fell and 1220 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.34% to 13.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.29% or 5.45 to $1,869.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.33% or 1.06 to hit $78.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.27% or 1.10 to trade at $85.29 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.26% to 82.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 88.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 103.61.
