Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Auto, Consumer Durables and Green Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.71%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 2.30% or 61.00 points to trade at 2,712.50 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) added 1.09% or 16.40 points to end at 1,524.75 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 0.99% or 18.75 points to 1,912.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 4.84% or 20.95 points to trade at 412.20 in late trade. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 3.43% or 30.00 points to end at 843.70 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) shed 2.99% or 52.35 points to 1,700.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which rose 1.13% to 1,525.25, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.09% to settle at 826.55 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 0.83% to close at 1,912.15.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.54% to 843.40 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 3.04% to settle at 1,700.20 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.99% to 2,636.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1322 to 562 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2107 fell and 1240 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.18% to 15.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.23% or 3.95 to $1,709.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.22% or 1.05 to hit $84.78 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.88 to trade at $91.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.48% to 81.73, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 81.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 110.79.
