Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Banking and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM), which rose 2.30% or 79.70 points to trade at 3541.50 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 2.13% or 20.15 points to end at 964.25 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 1.91% or 17.85 points to 954.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB), which lost 5.97% or 94.20 points to trade at 1483.10 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.37% or 18.35 points to end at 526.40 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) shed 2.87% or 33.50 points to 1132.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.12% to 963.90, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was up 2.11% to settle at 3536.95 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which gained 1.00% to close at 566.60.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.04% to 1132.30 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.80% to settle at 502.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.23% to 296.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1084 to 488 and 13 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1740 fell and 960 advanced, while 168 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.94% to 10.6275 a new all time low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.36% or 4.38 to $1228.58 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $47.76 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $50.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 64.355, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 69.9514.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.52.
