Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 1.05% or 0.0055 points to trade at 0.5270 at the close. Brembo (MI:BRBI) added 0.53% or 0.30 points to end at 56.40 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) was up 0.22% or 0.05 points to 22.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UBI Banca (MI:UBI), which lost 3.32% or 0.0920 points to trade at 2.6820 in late trade. Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) declined 3.16% or 0.0275 points to end at 0.8425 and Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) shed 2.65% or 0.0102 points to 0.3740.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 190 to 125 and 26 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.46% or 0.25 to $54.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.39% or 0.22 to hit $57.05 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1139.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.0379, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8495.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 103.52.
