Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 4.33% or 26.17 points to trade at 630.47 at the close. America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL) added 4.02% or 0.670 points to end at 17.340 and VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) was up 3.06% or 0.46 points to 15.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO), which lost 1.80% or 0.570 points to trade at 31.080 in late trade. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.66% or 1.170 points to end at 69.240 and Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) shed 1.54% or 0.510 points to 32.540.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 189 to 137 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.74% or 23.20 to $1353.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.62% or 1.55 to hit $60.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $64.38 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.02% to 18.5634, while EUR/MXN rose 0.05% to 23.1259.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 88.91.
