Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Financial Services and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which rose 2.91% or 8.580 points to trade at 302.960 at the close. Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) added 1.85% or 0.720 points to end at 39.550 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) was up 2.01% or 0.620 points to 31.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 13.95% or 0.360 points to trade at 2.220 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) declined 2.68% or 7.710 points to end at 279.990 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) shed 2.71% or 0.630 points to 22.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 79 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.24% or 2.90 to $1214.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.29% or 0.14 to hit $48.96 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $49.91 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.20% to 18.5053, while EUR/MXN rose 0.70% to 20.7004.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.41.
