Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 4.20% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.240 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 4.07% or 0.34 points to end at 8.70 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) was up 2.63% or 7.00 points to 273.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 5.00% or 2.50 points to trade at 47.50 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.97% or 1.15 points to end at 21.99 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 4.95% or 0.86 points to 16.51.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 30 and 18 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.22% or 1.00 to $46.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.97% or 0.94 to hit $48.73 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 1.64 to trade at $1223.34 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.16% to 357.180, while USD/NGN fell 10.06% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 95.60.
