Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 4.50% or 0.5500 points to trade at 12.7650 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 1.55% or 0.0560 points to end at 3.6600 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 1.42% or 0.0100 points to 0.7120 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 0.85% or 0.0130 points to trade at 1.5110 in late trade. Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) declined 0.47% or 0.038 points to end at 8.000 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) shed 0.18% or 0.0020 points to 1.1270.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 28 to 20 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 9.23% or 4.37 to $51.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.82% or 3.99 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.19% or 14.15 to trade at $1176.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.0593, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8476.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 101.56.
