Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS), which rose 2.28% or 0.1700 points to trade at 7.6220 at the close. Meanwhile, Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS) added 2.26% or 0.0830 points to end at 3.7560 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) was up 2.16% or 0.0270 points to 1.2770 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which fell 1.54% or 0.0001 points to trade at 0.0064 at the close. Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) declined 0.16% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.6090 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) was down 0.12% or 0.0110 points to 9.5120.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 50 to 15 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.28% or 0.1700 to 7.6220.
Brent oil for September delivery was down 2.02% or 1.19 to $57.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.49% or 1.32 to hit $51.72 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.62% or 7.20 to trade at $1146.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.0954, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7006.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 97.29.
