Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 4.29% or 0.2550 points to trade at 6.1950 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 3.86% or 0.1435 points to end at 3.8565 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 3.82% or 88.0 points to 2392.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which lost 4.08% or 151.0 points to trade at 3549.0 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 2.82% or 21 points to end at 725 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 2.62% or 3.75 points to 139.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 95 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.76% to 29.050 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.06% or 0.75 to $1203.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.25% or 1.09 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 0.92 to trade at $50.43 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.03% to 59.3998, while EUR/RUB rose 0.15% to 63.036.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 101.41.
