Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Lukoil (MCX:LKOH), which rose 2.66% or 74.5 points to trade at 2874.5 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 2.59% or 0.840 points to end at 33.300 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 2.32% or 8.65 points to 380.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK), which lost 1.16% or 0.90 points to trade at 76.76 in late trade. Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER) declined 1.09% or 1.60 points to end at 145.50 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) shed 0.85% or 7.0 points to 817.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 140 to 73 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.08% to 22.590.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 2.51 to $1249.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.90% or 0.40 to hit $44.64 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.50 to trade at $47.42 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 59.3301, while EUR/RUB rose 1.44% to 67.4720.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 95.80.
