Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 9.52% or 0.348 points to trade at 4.004 at the close. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) added 4.40% or 0.241 points to end at 5.723 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 3.81% or 0.369 points to 10.045 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 3.28% or 0.085 points to trade at 2.506 in late trade. Bankia (MC:BKIA) declined 2.88% or 0.027 points to end at 0.910 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 1.81% or 0.118 points to 6.401.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 87 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 2.92% or 35.90 to $1265.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.67% or 1.41 to hit $39.87 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.33% or 0.94 to trade at $41.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.1324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.7815.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
