Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.37% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ACS Const. (MC:ACS), which rose 2.88% or 0.885 points to trade at 31.610 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) added 2.08% or 0.470 points to end at 23.085 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 2.01% or 0.157 points to 7.971 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which lost 0.82% or 0.09 points to trade at 10.31 in late trade. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 0.51% or 0.060 points to end at 11.820 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 0.47% or 0.008 points to 1.710.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 99 to 67 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.45% or 5.70 to $1248.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.47% or 0.73 to hit $50.24 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.45 to trade at $52.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.0723, while EUR/GBP fell 0.85% to 0.8585.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 100.01.
