Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electricity, Rubber and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.09% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taisol (TW:3338), which rose 9.97% or 3.00 points to trade at 33.10 at the close. 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009) added 9.96% or 0.90 points to end at 9.94 and Mobiletron (TW:1533) was up 9.96% or 4.25 points to 46.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tpk Holding (TW:3673), which lost 5.97% or 5.00 points to trade at 78.80 in late trade. Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912) declined 5.20% or 7.00 points to end at 127.50 and Lite-On Semi (TW:5305) shed 5.16% or 1.65 points to 30.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 410 to 345 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $52.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $55.62 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 4.95 to trade at $1230.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.85% to 30.763, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2217.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 100.78.
