Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.17% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which rose 10.00% or 2.30 points to trade at 25.30 at the close. Rectron (TW:2302) added 10.00% or 0.63 points to end at 6.93 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 7.95% or 1.30 points to 17.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which lost 7.14% or 1.35 points to trade at 17.55 in late trade. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 5.24% or 1.00 points to end at 18.10 and Aten (TW:6277) shed 4.83% or 4.10 points to 80.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 393 to 367 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.39% or 0.20 to $50.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.25% or 0.13 to hit $51.65 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1267.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 31.633, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2133.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 98.61.
