Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Transasia (TW:6702), which rose 10.00% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.77 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.98% or 2.00 points to end at 22.05 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.86% or 2.15 points to 23.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grape King (TW:1707), which lost 9.89% or 18.50 points to trade at 168.50 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 5.83% or 1.30 points to end at 21.00 and Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) shed 5.52% or 0.27 points to 4.62.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 437 to 321 and 119 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.56% or 0.30 to $54.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.32 to hit $57.14 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.60% or 6.95 to trade at $1158.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.265, while TWD/CNY rose 0.47% to 0.2148.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 102.68.
